I received this a few days ago but haven’t had a chance to try it out yet on the trail which is why I’m rating it 4-stars at this time.

I love the overall capacity of it, as well as all the pockets. I think it will be a perfect bag for day hikes without being too big. I tested the hydration bladder for leaks and there were none. Yes it gives water that “plastic-y” taste initially, but I did clean it with a bit of dish soap, rinsed well, and let it air dry for 2-3 days and that took care of the weird taste. Also there are two outer side pockets that each fit a standard 16-ounce water bottle but they seem like they will fit larger bottles too.

The shoulder straps are a perfect fit for me. I was concerned they might be too wide and uncomfortable, or hit in the wrong places based on what a few other reviewers with similar physical dimensions stated. Also the sternum strap and waist strap are adjustable and fit comfortably (for reference I am 5’3, 135, 36C).

The medium size pocket in the lower middle section of the bag with the logo on it has three small buckle straps – one at the top of it as well as one on either side (see pics) so it can be unhinged. I wasn’t sure what the purpose is but my husband suggested it can be used to hold a jacket or blanket, or anything else along those lines.

This backpack looks and feels like very good quality and I can’t wait to load it up and take it out on some Fall hikes.

    UPDATE 10-22-23:
This is now officially a 5-Star backpack. I used it for the first time yesterday on a 14-mile hike and it was perfect! It was fully loaded and comfortable for the whole trek.
I started out with the hydration pack full – no leaks, and the bite valve worked great. This is my first hydration pack and I sure appreciated the convenience of being able to drink water without having to stop during those times when I was only thirsty but not needing to stop. (now comes the fun part of cleaning the thing lol – but I bought a cleaning kit and some fizzy tablets, so we’ll see how that goes!)
The backpack held everything I bring on a day hike, though I can see where the bigger 22-liter one wouldn’t be bad either for hikes in colder weather when I bring a heavier jacket, a few other light layers, and more food items. I actually might get one in that size too if I can get it at a good sale price.
This is definitely a great pack from my experience with it so far, and I’d say get it if you’re on the fence.

    Produit de qualité

My only complaint is that the main compartment’s zipper is hard to open & close because the flap over it is so stiff. Otherwise, it’s holding up well and seems to be a great pack for fit and quality.

I have used this backpack for 3.5 years almost every single time I go to the outdoors, whether it be hiking, camping, snowboarding, etc. It has performed flawlessly, especially when you realize that I only paid 40$ for it. The large backpack capacity comes in extremely handy when I can lug or carry large amounts of gear – the built-in rain cover is convenient, the bungie storage is great for auxiliary clothing, the bladder works fine, and I didn’t even realize that there was a built-in whistle!!!

The only issue I have with it is the bladder – the bladder design isn’t too great, despite being effective in use, but for 40$ with the pack itself, I can’t complain, as it generally has functioned greatly (thus, this product still gets 5 stars from me). I write this review mainly to give feedback on the bladder design, because I enjoy the product that has been delivered and would love to buy an improved bladder from the company as well.

The issues I’ve seen are (1) the bite valve will leak if it is left open, without being bitten at all, (2) the tube connector to the bladder is a screwing-in mechanism, which is frankly fine, but requires you definitely screw it in perfectly (not hard) to avoid leakage, and (3) performing drying of the bladder is quite cumbersome – due to the excess space between the bladder opening and the top of the bladder, you can’t just easily stick a bladder-hanger inside the bladder and turn it upside down to dry – the water will accumulate in that excess space, and it having a lot of crevices, causing difficulty in drying that space.

None of these issues are deal breakers especially when considering how much you pay for it, but (3) really does stop me from using the bladder as much as I’d like to as its cumbersome to dry the bladder.

Awesome pack – great use of space for snacks, clothes, phone keys etc, extra water bottle and 2L water pack in the back. Just did 5 (long) days of pretty strenuous hiking and this pack was super comfortable and functional – all the features I needed. The weigh distribution is perfect with all the adjustable straps – barely noticed I had it on my back most of the time. Love this backpack – exceeded my expectations.
