I have been using it for one month and the first thing you notice about this watch is its build quality, it feels premium in your hands. About its health features, I am still exploring, but I use sleep tracking, step count, stress level measurement and heart rate monitor. Here is my take on it.
Heart rate monitor is top notch, and it gives quite accurate information.
Sleep tracking is above average I would say but that could improve.
Step count is also average as sometimes it does not count accurate steps and tend to count more than what I actually do.
Stress level measurement is also one feature which I don’t fully understand, as sometimes it is showing medium to high level stress even though I am just relaxing at that time. This feature needs to improve in future.
Rest of the information such as body battery, VO2 Max and training readiness seems a gimmick.
Garmin bragged about its solar charging capacity, however if you are not going out directly under the sun it does not charge much. Garmin is charging extra for the solar feature which I guess is not value for money. I recommend take the normal watch (without solar charging) that is more value for money).

Went from Instinct tactical to the 2x solar. I was reluctant since and wasn’t sure the upgrades would make much difference. It already has. GPS is much more accurate. The torch works great and the performance measures seem to be beneficial. Much larger but I am 6’4″ and 200 lbs so it fits my wrist well.

Hello…
I was a little bit afraid of changing my fenix 5 sapphire for the Instinct 2x solar, but was a really good change… 2x is bigger and a lot lighter than the fenix… For running, cycling, gym and all the sports that is on the 2x is really great!! For me it is great! Solar charging charges but you really need to be out, but it works great, waiting for summer days to really use the full solar charging potential! Bottom line a great watch… I wish maybe in the future garmin comes out with the sapphire version! But I really recommed the 2x solar!
Hope helps you decide…
Cheers…

Maybe it is because I haven’t tried the other watch that is not solar, but saying it is solar when I’ve had this almost half a day in the sun, and it didn’t get an extra day is poor for me. You would literally have to be in the sun all day, or leave it there all day to get a charge of a day.
I decided to keep it because I really do enjoy the flashlight on it, and this has a better GPS for multi band, which I probably didn’t really need. Again, I haven’t tried just Garmin Instinct, but I’m thinking for the average user not hooked on the flashlight, half the price the other watch is a good choice. Solar option is a horrible idea if you decide on that alone.

The Garmin Instinct 2x Solar is an amazing smartwatch and believe it or not i personally think it blows the Apple Watch out of the water because of the infinte battery life potential. One thing i hate about smartwatches is having to constantly charge them, and for a guy who is on the go a lot, having at least 26 days of battery life, if not infinite battery life is absolutely essential. Unfortunately i had to return it for one small reason. The bluetooth connection to my phone was very week. Just walking 7 meters away from my phone would cause the Garmin to disconnect and the constant “connected/disconnected” vibration notifications on my wrist got extremely annoying. I can walk nearly 100yds away from my iPhone while wearing airpods and they still stay connected perfectly so i know Garmin can do it. Unfortunately this watch relies on the bluetooth connection from your phone for all the smart features likes weather, texts, etc. Had it not been for that, I absolutely would have kept it and it would be my everyday watch. If you are somebody who always has your phone in your pocket, absolutely buy this, its literally everything you need in a tough, durable, good looking watch that can literally run forever without a wall outlet. If Garmin ever increases the bluetooth radio in newer models, i will definitely be buying one.

Bought primarily for workout tracking and it doesn’t disappoint. I’ll never use all of the features provided. Haven’t used for hiking yet but looking forward that once the snow is gone. Battery life on the solar is awesome. Don’t know if I’ll ever have to charge it. Costs more than the non solar but I think it is worth it.

This watch is very rugged when compared with other smart watches. I feel like it won’t break easily. Also it is very handy for being outside, and encouraging me to be more active, especially when paired with the Garmin Connect app. The battery life is legendary, even if I struggle to get to the fabled infinite life.

No touch screen. Complicated to operate compared to Samsung smart watches that have touch screen.

We gave it a try. Returned it definitely not worth the money too hard to set up too hard to initiate the functions immediately.
