I was looking for a simple chest strap heart rate monitor to communicate with my Concept 2 RowERG rower (uses ANT+) and with my Amazfit T Rex 2 fitness watch (uses bluetooth). I wasn’t sure if this could do both simultaneously, but decided to try it out. After a few minutes pairing things up in the POLAR phone app and registering it, I synced it to my watch and then connected to my rower monitor. Worked exactly as I hoped with no problems at all.
I have plenty of other workout apps, so I don’t use the available POLAR fitness app, but it appears to be fairly well designed for guiding workouts and tracking fitness. The H9 model is pretty basic in functionality, but it performs its job well.
I’ve been using it 1.5 hours daily for a couple of weeks and the battery is still fine (which is expected). If any battery life issues crop up, I will update my review.

i was very unsure of this monitor due to pass experience with other chest straps. many years ago before the blue tooth i had a polar that paired with a watch which i liked, however the old style are ever hard to come by these days. i am more of a low tech guy. i have been working out majority of my life cardo, lifting, and yoga and with the same trainer for years. for unknown reason i developed very large blood clots in my lungs. that side lined me. it is a long slow climb back to where i was fitness wise. I returned to the gym earlier when most are only starting to walk again. there are no true studies this area on fitness rule of thumb from doctors is rest minimum active and no lifts. however i believe physical fitness is key to health so i returned gym to see what i could within guidance of my doctor and trainer. Doctor wanted an oximeter (checking my oxygen level every two minutes) my trainer also wanted the heart monitor. finding the chest strap monitor was a challenge. quick side note my return to the gym was humbling things of the past i viewed as child’s play were now challenging. i tried other monitors they didn’t work and wanted a monthly fee for their app that they pair with. The polar beat app is free easy download and easy to use with a long list of various fitness activities. i would like to see a cardo circuit added. the chest monitor paired relatively easy with my iphone and the app. this chest monitor also paired with every piece of cardio equipment in the gym automatically (treadmills, bikes, stair climber, stride elliptical, elliptical, rower) The important art is the monitor is accurate. i have tested its readings against the equipment of my oximeter. due to being a lifter i needed to find a strap that would comfortable on a guy with a large chest. This one does however i would like to see a couple more inches added to the strap the idea that only individuals who do cardio with a 36 chest wear these is kind of monitors is nuts. the main reason why lifters don’t wear them is finding one that fits. my only issue is the battery when quickly. i suggest keeping an extra battery on hand in your gym bag. i do the same for the oximeter. In closing i do suggest the polar chest strap monitor.

I wanted to use this very much at gym. But all to often I would get ready to get on the stairmaster, etc, open the app to start recording my heart rate and it would not show heart rate. I closed the app, cleared the cache and force stop the app and open the app on my phone again. Sometimes that would work, sometimes it wouldn’t. Fresh batteries did not fix the problem either. I got so frustrated with it not working when I needed it to. I took a hammer to it and threw it in the trash. Never again will I buy a Polar heart rate sensor. I did a lot of searching the internet for answers and found nothing that would fix the problem. Both Polar apps seemed dated and not friendly to use. And I was not about to sign up for any app that needed a monthly subscription. Now I just use my Samsung watch to record my heart rate during exercise. Works every time.

It was easy to download the app and get it going. Easy to understand. One button start. I was able to just put the belt on my chest and it worked perfectly after pairing with bluetooth. I have been using this every day for the past 6 months. It helps me to stay within my target heart zone otherwise I would just be guessing. I have made considerable progress towards my fitness goals because I knew where I was at in each zone. The app tells you which zones are which and where you should be. Workouts can be saved and tracked. Best investment this year.

I’ve been using Polar HR monitors for over two decades now. I was using my polar FT7 to track my workouts until recently when I was gifted a Garmin watch. The old polar HR monitor doesn’t have ANT+ so decided to purchase a Garmin Duo to go along with my watch it believing that the same brand would work best. What a mistake that was! The Duo was highly unreliable, kept dropping connection, etc. I sent it back and purchased this H9 sensor instead. Voila! It paired instantly with my Garmin and I’ve had no problems whatsoever! It’s also compatible with the Polar chest bands I already have, so I’ll always have extras on hand. What more could I ask for?
Quality product, highly recommended!
